The Volunteer Services Council is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of patients at the Austin State Hospital (ASH). Our work started in 1952 with a handful of volunteers who wanted to show love and compassion.

Throughout the last 65 years, the Volunteer Services Council (VSC) of Austin State Hospital has made a tremendous difference in our community and in the lives of thousands of individuals who come to ASH each year for hope and healing. Because of you, our loyal supporters, the VSC has been able to donate $75,000 annually to fund many important programs and projects not funded by the state of Texas.

The Volunteer Services Council maintains a close relationship with the Austin State Hospital Community Relations Department, which serves as a liaison between the board and the hospital. Because of this unique relationship, this site is maintained by the Austin State Hospital Community Relations staff.
